Observe what spikes when the stutter happens
Monitor CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and temperatures while reproducing the issue. A disk spike at the exact moment of a hitch points in a different direction than a CPU thread saturating or the GPU dropping clocks because of temperature.
Storage and memory pressure
Insufficient RAM can force more paging. Slow or unhealthy storage can delay asset streaming. A nearly full system drive can also make normal Windows operations harder. Check health and free space before applying performance tweaks.
Drivers, shaders, and game updates
Graphics-driver changes, shader compilation, newly installed game patches, and anti-cheat changes can create temporary or title-specific stutter. Compare multiple games before assuming Windows itself is the cause.
Background activity and overlays
Browsers, capture software, RGB tools, cloud sync, launchers, antivirus scans, and overlays can create periodic resource spikes. Disable only nonessential software for testing, then add it back methodically.
