Measure CPU, GPU, memory, and frame behavior
Start by reproducing the problem in the game. Watch GPU utilization, CPU utilization, memory pressure, temperatures, and frame-time consistency. A GPU running at full utilization is a very different situation from a game stuttering while the GPU is mostly idle.
Keep graphics and chipset drivers current
Use the correct signed driver for the installed GPU and platform. Driver updates can fix game-specific issues, but a newer driver is not automatically faster in every title. Keep a rollback path if a new release causes a regression.
Reduce avoidable background contention
Close launchers, browsers, sync clients, recording tools, or other applications you do not need during the game. Do not disable Windows security or important services just to reduce the process count.
Use appropriate power and thermal behavior
Performance-focused power behavior can reduce aggressive power saving during a game, but it also increases heat and power use. Make sure the CPU and GPU are not thermal throttling before raising performance limits.
Separate network problems from rendering problems
High ping, packet loss, and network contention do not reduce local render time in the same way as a CPU/GPU bottleneck, but they can make an online game feel unresponsive. Monitor the connection and prioritize the actual problem rather than applying unrelated TCP registry tweaks.
