Find the gaming bottleneck
Watch GPU utilization, CPU load, memory use, temperatures, and frame behavior while the game is running. If the GPU is already at full load, reducing background CPU work may not meaningfully increase FPS. If the CPU is the limit, lowering purely GPU-heavy graphics settings may not help much.
Drivers and game configuration
Use stable graphics and chipset drivers, verify the game files when appropriate, and start with sensible in-game settings. Shader compilation or a game update can cause temporary stutter that is unrelated to Windows optimization.
Background apps and overlays
Browsers, recording tools, RGB suites, launchers, overlays, cloud sync, and other applications can compete for CPU, memory, disk, or GPU resources. Disable only what you do not need for that gaming session.
Input latency, stutter, and network delay are different
Input lag is the delay between input and visible response. Frame stutter is inconsistent frame delivery. Network latency is delay between your PC and a remote server. They can feel similar, but they require different troubleshooting.
