Measure the part that is slow
Time whether the delay happens before the Windows sign-in screen, during sign-in, or after the desktop appears. Pre-sign-in delays can involve firmware, storage, drivers, or Windows boot. Post-sign-in delays often involve startup applications and scheduled background work.
Review startup applications
Use Task Manager or Windows Settings to identify applications configured to start automatically. Disable only programs you do not need at every login. Keep hardware, security, touchpad, audio, accessibility, and other important software when required.
Check storage health and free space
Older hard drives can make Windows startup dramatically slower than SSDs. A failing drive or a nearly full system disk also creates delays that startup “tweaks” cannot solve.
Do not disable Windows services blindly
Generic optimization scripts often disable services without understanding what software depends on them. That can break updates, search, networking, printing, Bluetooth, security, or applications. Prefer removing unnecessary third-party startup work first.
